Susie Sanderson, a GDP for most of her career, was until recently a partner in a mixed family practice in Sheffield and she continues to enjoy part time NHS practice in the South Yorkshire region. Involved in the BDA at local and national level for a number of years, she has contributed in a wide variety of areas including education and standards, healthcare policy, GDPC, DCPs, events, students and young dentists, and was elected Chair of the Executive Board in February 2006. Internationally, she is Honorary Treasurer and Board member of the Council of European Dentists and represents the UK at the FDI World Dental Federation and its European Regional Organisation. Susie is a member of the Board of Medical Education England and its subsidiary Dental Programme Board. She was the elected Chair of the National Conference of Local Dental Committees in 2005.
Susie was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list 2012.

Chair of the BDA's Representative Body. Stuart qualified in Cardiff in 1972 and has worked in his Newbridge practice since 1995. He became active in dental politics in the 1980s at a local then national level through the then General Dental Services Committee of the BDA, occupying a number of senior positions including acting as vice chair for 5 years. He was first elected to the Representative Board - later to become the Representative Body - in 1997 and became Chair in 2008. Stuart continues to be closely involved at all levels of the BDA.

Frank Holloway qualified from Bristol in 1969. After house officer posts, 2 years NHS practice in Bristol and 3 years mixed practice in the West End of London, he responded to an advert in the BDJ for a job with the US Army in Bavaria. Three years later he joined the British Army, subsequently working in Germany, Texas, Cyprus, the Outer Hebrides and occasionally in England. In 1986 he did an MSc in cons at the Eastman, after which he taught and ran a referral service for 6 years. He was then selected for command posts but always maintained his clinical involvement and started a long association of activities with the BDA.
He achieved the rank of colonel and completed his regular Army service as Commandant of the Royal Army Dental Corps, Commanding Officer of the DDS Training Centre and Principal Dental Officer of the Home Counties region. He was able to spend the last 5 years treating new recruits and recently retired after 33 years in the Army.
Frank was installed as President of the BDA 2012/13 in April 2012.
