Embarking upon the Good Practice Scheme journey can sometimes feel like a daunting task if you’re not sure how or where to begin. The Good Practice Scheme consultancy will help you take your practice to the next level.

Benefits to the dental team

Our Good Practice Scheme regional consultants can help launch the scheme to your dental team and actively engage your team through the self-assessment process. Our consultants are located throughout the UK and have been trained by the BDA to deliver a dedicated premium support package. Regional consultants are experienced practice managers who have taken their own practices through the self-assessment programme several times and have seen the benefits it has brought to practice life and to patients.

The Good Practice Scheme promotes teamwork by ensuring the total involvement of all staff in the practice vision. Other benefits include:

  • compliance with quality assurance and clinical governance
  • accountability
  • informed decision-making
  • improved confidence
  • public recognition
  • improved standards.

Your consultant will arrange a convenient time for your conference calls and practice meeting.

  1. A conference call where your regional consultant:

    • identifies which policies and procedures are already in place and which need to be developed
    • agrees two or three sections to be completed before the date of your practice meeting facilitated by the regional consultant
    • offers tips and advice on working through the requirements, using SMART targets
    • agrees target dates for completion of the Good Practice Scheme.

  2. A one-hour practice meeting with your regional consultant to:

    • check sections worked through following the initial telephone conversation
    • work through further sections of programme in detail with your team
    • examine a selection of policies and procedures currently in place
    • plan a celebration (at the BDA Conference or BDA Headquarters).

  3. A follow-up conference call with your regional consultant to:

    • review progress and address any support needs
    • confirm goal and book places for the celebration event
    • explain the application process if necessary.

The Good Practice Scheme team will be on hand to provide additional support, whenever needed.

All practices buying a support package receive a complementary Good Practice Scheme commitment plaque (worth £90) in addition to your membership plaque upon successful completion of the scheme.
