The NHS Evidence website
The NHS Evidence website was launched in April 2009. The website provides access to clinical and non-clinical information about health and social care, for example public health, drugs, commissioning and technologies. It is a web portal that enables users to connect to clinical and non-clinical sources, including journal articles. The software is underpinned by a powerful search engine which searches existing websites. Recently the software was updated so that users could register and log in, so gaining a personalised range of services.
This website contains extensive clinical information on all aspects of healthcare including dentistry and as the functionality continues to improve it will be easier to use. This website is open access but the website will not reproduce information in a format specifically for a patient audience.
The National Library for Health’s Specialist Libraries transferred to NHS Evidence in April 2009 and users can search the website for information contained within the specialist collections.
NHS Evidence operates as a programme of work within NICE and reports to the NICE Board.
