Tunbridge Wells - When do we need fillings - 13 October 2009
When do we need fillings? How should we prepare a carious tooth for fillings with Professor E Kidd, An open meeting for the whole dental team. This lecture will differentiate the caries process from its possible symptom, the caries leson; point out the caries process can be controlled by plaque control with a fluoride toothpaste; suggest fillings are needed when the patient cannot disturb the biofilm with a toothbrush; suggest the amount of infected dentine to be removed may be less important than the seal of restoration and give evidence for this from studies with fissure sealants, stepwise excavation and incomplete caries removal. This meeting qualifies for 1.5 hours CPD. Booking essential.
