How much does BDA membership cost?
It depends. The membership fee varies depending on your grade of membership, if you are entitled to a concessionary rate and at what point of the membership year you joined. Visit the fees page for more information. Back to top
Is BDA membership tax deductible?
Yes. BDA membership is an Inland Revenue approved (list 3) professional body. If you are a UK tax payer, your membership subscription is tax deductible. You could be saving money. Further information about tax reclaim can be found here. Back to top
How do I know if I am entitled to a concessionary rate?
Concessionary rates are available to qualified dentists who are temporarily not working, or reading medicine or undertaking postgraduate study or who are joint BMA members. If this sounds like you, you could be saving 50% off the ordinary membership rate. Call our membership team on 020 7563 4550 to find out more. Please note applications for concessions must be made for each membership year and if you joined mid-year, the concession will be applied on a pro rata basis for the year, still saving you money. How can I pay for my BDA membership?
You can pay for your membership by direct debit, credit card, debit card or cheque (we do not accept cash payment). You can change your payment method at any time by calling our membership team on 020 7563 4550. Remember that renewing your membership by annual direct debit saves you money. Back to top
How do I renew my membership?
As an existing member of the BDA, you will receive notification in mid-August inviting you to renew your membership for the forthcoming membership year. If you pay your membership by cheque, credit or debit card, you will be required to send your payment to the BDA before 1 October. If you do not wish to renew your BDA membership, it is important that you notify the membership team immediately in writing, so that payments are not taken from your account from 1 October. How do I cancel my membership?
You may cancel membership at any time. The Articles of the Association request that you do this in writing, either by letter or email. The notice period for cancellation is three months, from the day your resignation letter or email is received by the BDA membership team. You must pay all subscription fees owed, until the date of cancellation. If you have already paid your subscription in full, a refund will be given for any remaining full months of membership, until the end of the membership year.
If you have paid by direct debit, the direct debit instruction will be cancelled by the BDA after the three month notice period and no further payments will be taken from your account, provided no outstanding amounts are owed. If you choose to resign, we would appreciate your reason for resignation. It could help us to improve our services in future, to better meet your needs. Back to top
