For how long are the payments made and how much will they be?

Maternity and adoption leave payments

The payments are made for a maximum of 26 weeks. They may be paid from the eleventh week before the baby is due, but no later than the expected week of childbirth or adoption. It is not a requirement that you work up until the eleventh week. Payments are made monthly in arrears and are only paid for complete weeks.

Payments are calculated weekly by taking the performer’s net monthly pensionable earnings, multiplying by 12 and then dividing by 52 to get a weekly amount. There is no minimum earnings requirement. The contractor will continue to receive the contract sum so the amount normally paid to you can be paid to the locum who will perform your UDAs.

Paternity leave payments

Payments are made for two weeks and calculated according to the performer’s net monthly pensionable earnings. There is no minimum earnings requirement.
