Parliamentary inquiries

Latest news

The British Dental Association (BDA) has welcomed news that the General Dental Council (GDC) is to be subject of a Health Select Committee accountability hearing on 3 March 2015.

Select Committees

Select Committees work in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords overseeing the work of government and holding investigations into specialist topics. MPs and Lords are appointed to Select Committees on a cross party basis and supported by official parliamentary clerks.
The House of Commons Select Committees scrutinise Government departments' spending, policy and administration. The select committee members agree topics for inquiry and then proceed to gather and analyse oral and written evidence before publishing their conclusions. The Government usually has 60 days to respond to the publication of a select committee report.
The House of Lords Select Committees hold investigations into specialist topics.

The BDA routinely provides written and oral evidence to inquiries considering matters which affect our members.
