CPD1 hour 30 minutes

The mouth is the "mirror" to the rest of the body and the dentist may be the first person to recognise a systemic disease in their patient and to recognise when these need referring to the Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery Department.

Learning objectives
  • To recognise and distinguish the important white, red and ulcerative lesions that occur in the mouth
  • To know which lesions can be treated in practice and which ones should be referred to OMFS
  • To advise their patient about those habits which might predispose to oral cancer.
Learning content

This will be a didactic session with examples of different lesions and their manifestations. There will be discussions about diagnostic techniques along with a chance to answer any questions afterwards.
