This one day event is designed for dentists looking to improve their clinical effectiveness. The main programme will contain a mixture of lectures and interactive panels. Alongside the main programme there will be a mixture of short talks, roundtable discussions and one on one sessions offering career and business advice.

​Peter Briggs
Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Bart’s and London Dental Institute, Specialist Practitioner, Hodsoll House
Dental Practice

Peter qualified at King’s College Hospital in 1983, completed his MSc at the Eastman Dental Institute in 1988, and completed his higher training in Restorative Dentistry in 1995. He was awarded a Winston Churchill Scholarship in 1994 and was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in South London in 1995. He has also worked as a specialist referral practitioner since 1995. He has published and educated widely and provided senior management and leadership within NHS Trusts, HEE & NHSE - Rest Dent LDN. He has been a past President of British Society of Prosthodontics. He has worked at Bart’s and the Royal London Dental Institute, Queen Mary University of London since 2015.


Richard Field

Richard graduated with Honours from the University of Glasgow in 2011 and currently works in private practice in Bristol and Central London. He has a particular interest in dental photography and minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, especially composite bonding, anterior alignment orthodontics and resin infiltration techniques for the removal of white spots. Richard was awarded overall Best Young Dentist UK at the 2014 Dentistry Awards.


Matthew Hill
Executive Director, Strategy, GDC

Matthew’s knowledge of regulatory policy has been gained through a number of senior roles across a wide range of fields. These include food safety, alcohol and broadcasting, with Matthew having held director positions in both research and intelligence. Prior to joining the GDC, Matthew was Director of Regulatory Risk at the Gambling Commission, where he applied learning from major regulatory cases to improve protection for consumers, children and vulnerable adults. Within the GDC, his role as Director, Strategy includes the development and implementation of strategy, policy and communications.


Shanon Patel
Consultant Endodontist

Shanon Patel divides his time between working in a large multi-disciplinary specialist practice in Central London and teaching future specialist endodontists in the Postgraduate Unit at King’s College London Dental
Institute. Shanon is actively involved in research and has co-supervised over 40 Masters and PhD students.
His primary research interests reflect some of the interesting challenges he faces in everyday clinical practice and include survival of teeth, managing dental trauma, microbiology and CBCT in endodontics. As a result he regularly lectures on these topics both nationally and internationally. Shanon has been the lead author of National (FGDP, Royal College of Surgeons) and European (ESE) guidelines on dental imaging in endodontics.


​Nikhil Sisodia
Implant Surgeon

Nik Sisodia is a partner at the highly-regarded Ten Dental referral centre, a private practice in London, and has been an implant mentor and trainer to dentists at all levels – from GDP to registered specialists – for many years. He lectures nationally and internationally on implant and restorative dentistry, is a highly-regarded key opinion leader in implant dentistry, and enjoys being involved in new innovations in this ever-evolving field.
He is a past President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, Member of the Association of Dental Implantology, Scientific Director of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and serves on the editorial review board of the International Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Nicola West
Head of Periodontology, Professor and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, University of Bristol

Nicola leads periodontology at Bristol Dental School and lectures on the subject regularly on national and international stages. She conducts research at an international level, leading the Clinical Trials Unit and attracting substantial funding. Since 1990, Nicola has maintained a thriving private referral practice in the centre of Bristol, where she undertakes specialist periodontal treatment, bone augmentation and implant placement. A particular sphere of interest is the management of peri-implantitis lesions. he is Secretary of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) and is currently the European BSP representative and regional postgraduate tutor for them in South West England.
