What to expect

Join us for an inspiring lecture with speaker Ian Hutchinson, who will discuss how he learned to handle fear after being stalked by an ex-patient for almost four years. In an exclusive interview with the BBC Wales he admitted that he had been "to hell and back" as a result of this case.

The aim of the presentation is to give an overview of ‘fear’ comprising of the science of  fear,  its impacts on personal and professional growth and,  offer techniques to help face ‘fear’.

The presentation will focus on:

  • Discussing the basic physiology and psychology of fear
  • Exploring Emotional Intelligence and how to recognise, and manage, the emotional responses associated with fear
  • Understanding ‘mindset shifts’ to reframe fear
  • Learning how to cultivate a ‘growth mindset’ that views fear as an opportunity for learning and personal development rather than an obstacle.

Ian Hutchinson Specialist Orthodontist

Ian Hutchinson is a specialist orthodontist who graduated from Newcastle University before gaining a fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons.
