Scotland: Payment reform update

Since payment reform was introduced on 1 November 2023, we have continued to engage with the Scottish Government and have provided feedback on the changes.

The Scottish Government has published an updated version of the Statement of Remuneration (SDR).

Amendment No. 163 to the SDR makes the following changes:

  • Determination I – includes minor changes to various treatment items to ensure they function as originally intended (effective from 1 April 2024)
  • Determination IV – reflects that Vocational Trainees are employed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) rather than Vocational Trainers (effective from 1 August 2022)
  • Determination XIII – updates the list of eligible areas and amends the requirement for the number of sessions to be provided (effective from 1 April 2024).

PCA(D)(2024)1 also advises:

  • That guidance on emergency drugs and equipment in primary dental care has recently been updated and published online
  • An update on the 2022-25 cycle of Quality Improvement activity.

Our Scotland payment reform information hub has more information on the recent changes.
