The BDA's Honours and Awards are designed to acknowledge the unsung heroes of our profession; those who have upheld and improved the standards of dentistry.
Current members who have been awarded with the honours:
Honorary Membership Considered to be one of the Association’s highest honours; one which is rarely awarded
Fellowship Distinguished service to the Association and the dental profession.
Distinguished Membership Honours long, exceptional and valuable service to the Association and acknowledges personal commitment to the operation and welfare of the organisation.
Life Membership Honours long and valuable service to the Association, particularly at Branch, Group and local levels, by significant service beyond the regular attendance at meetings and usually by significant representation at national level.
John Tomes Medal Honours members of the dental profession and of scientific eminence, or persons distinguished in medical or allied services, for their outstanding service to the dental profession or the Association.
BDA Roll of Distinction Honours outstanding services to the UK dentistry.
Certificate of Merit for Services to the Association Recognises any special service at any level of dentistry with the UK. Generally it is reserved for dentists and other professionals who have contributed to a BDA committee/commission/task force/project or event over a period of years and who has assisted in the promotion of the BDA.
Certificate of Merit for Services to the Profession Recognises any special service at any level of dentistry either nationally or internationally. Generally it is reserved for dentists and other persons who have contributed to academic or other work in furthering the profession, or individuals active in promoting advancements within the dental profession.
