Our priorities 

  • Negotiating a prevention-focused, capitation-based contract
  • Delivering investment in NHS dentistry to address a decade of cuts and ensuring NHS dentists are fairly paid
  • Addressing the crisis in NHS recruitment and retention through urgent action from Government.
Chair

Shiv Pabary MBE

Shiv qualified in 1985 from Newcastle Dental School. He is a GDP and has been a provider and owner of several NHS practices in the North-East. He has been the GDPC representative for Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland since 1996. He obtained a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB Hons) in 1995. Shiv is also employed as an Associate Clinical Lecturer, a Clinical Dental Adviser, and a Postgraduate Dental Tutor within Health Education England. He was awarded an MBE in the Queens Honours List in 2009 for services to NHS dentistry locally.

Vijay Sudra

Vijay is a GDP in the West Midlands and is the Secretary of Birmingham LDC. Vijay’s practice has a strong NHS element and is familiar in particular with the problems facing NHS colleagues.

Joe Hendron

Since graduating from University of Leeds, Joe has been a GDP in Wakefield. In partnership with his wife Catherine, Joe developed his business from a small practice with two surgeries to a nine-chair practice delivering NHS general dental care and orthodontics. He is particularly interested in seeking reform to the dental contract having participated in the pilots and prototypes from 2013-17. Joe is Vice Chair of the GDPC as well as Chair of Wakefield Local Dental Committee (LDC). Until recently, he chaired the Yorkshire Council of LDCs too. He is also Secretary/Treasurer of the Yorkshire Branch of the BDA. Joe is a keen golfer and supports Leeds United through thick and thin.


Get involved and get in touch 

The GDPC Executive is elected from and by the GDPC, and the chairs of the devolved DPCs attend ex-officio. Seats on BDA Committees can become available within a given GDPC triennium period, in which case by-elections will be held.
