As a dentist, you must:
Read and comply with
the GDC's standards
, being sure to note where they use the words ‘must’ and ‘should’ to indicate areas where compliance is mandatory and areas where there is room for flexibility
Always act in your patients’ best interests
Comply with the
GDC’s requirements for CPD
Work within your knowledge and competence; do not attempt treatments you have not been trained for, always refer a patient if necessary
Always obtain the patient’s valid informed consent to the treatment proposed
Maintain the confidentiality of information which you hold about your patients.
