The governance of the BDA follows democratic principles, and is in
compliance with both company and trade union law.
The policy and
strategic direction of the BDA is set by the Principal Executive
Committee (PEC), which is directly elected by BDA members.
The PEC receives advice and opinion from elected country councils, and
craft committees that represent constituent parts of the profession to
inform their final decisions.
The four councils also meet in concert to form the UK Council, which has the responsibility of addressing UK wide issues.
