The Group supports Community Dentists (salaried dentists working in
Community Dental Services (CDS), PDS, PCTDS or DACs) throughout the UK
by providing opportunities for high quality CPD, specially tailored to
CDS needs. The Group works hard to develop study days, events &
courses and the Annual Presidential and Scientific Meeting is one of the
highlights of the calendar.
Structure of the Group
The CDS Group represents dentists as
described above, working throughout the UK through its thirteen regional
Divisions. National members are then elected to the Group's General

of dentists working in CDS, PDS, PCTDS or DACs. It regularly organises
postgraduate courses, often in conjunction with other specialist
societies. It has strong links with SDC which negotiates terms and
conditions of employment on behalf the above groups.

Association and to foster and maintain cordial relations between
members of the Group and other sections of the profession.

Quality in Dental Services Scheme
for assessment for the QIDS scheme have been temporarily suspended
whilst discussions take place about the possibility of linking the
scheme with the BDA Good Practice Scheme.
For those services working towards the assessment please continue to do
so. At a recent assessment, the service commented that ‘all the
evidence they had collected for QIDS had proved very useful during a CQC
Trust inspection and the Trust had been very impressed’. For further
