This exciting new two-day hands-on course has been designed for the busy dental practitioner who wishes to update their endodontic knowledge and practical skills.

The course will be delivered through a combination of interactive lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The training provides a sound foundation on the biological aspects of endodontic disease as well as improving diagnosis (including CBCT). The course aims to enhance the dentist’s skills required to carry out predictable endodontic treatment using the latest preparation and obturation techniques.

Try a variety of techniques and materials in an impartial setting.

Learning objectives

  • Improve understanding of the aetiology of endodontic disease
  • Ensure accurate diagnosis and the use of magnification with a dental microscope
  • Appreciation of the subtle differences between some of the most popular  instrumentation and obturation techniques
  • Introduce predictability using contemporary endodontic techniques.

Shanon Patel
Consultant Endodontist and Senior Lecturer in Endodontics, King's College London Dental Institute and Specialist Practice

Shanon Patel divides his time between working in a large multi-disciplinary specialist practice in central London and teaching future Specialist Endodontists in the Postgraduate Unit at King's College London Dental Institute.

His PhD thesis assessed the use of CBCT in the management of endodontic problems. Shanon is actively involved in research, and has co-supervised over 40 Masters and PhD students. Shanon has been the lead author of National (FGDP, Royal College of Surgeons) and European (ESE) guidelines on dental imaging in endodontics.

In addition, he has published over 70 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and co-edited 4 textbooks; 'Principles of Endodontics' is now in its second edition, and is a very popular undergraduate endodontic textbook, 'Pitt Ford's Problem Based Learning in Endodontics' was one of the first PBL textbooks in our specialty. 'Cone Beam CT in Endodontics' is now recognized as the reference guide for small field, high resolution CBCT in Endodontics. These books have been translated into 5 different languages.
