The dental profession has experienced a period of rapid change in infection control requirements following the introduction in England of HTM 01-05 and the Code of Practice on preventing and controlling infections. Learn from industry experts on how these requirements affect your practice and how to ensure compliance. This one-day course will demonstrate both essential and best practice in managing infection control.
- Understand the origins of infection control dento-legal problems and how they can be prevented
- Be familiar with standard practice precautions and measures of personal protection for all members of the dental team
- Know how to maintain high standards of decontamination and comply with HTM 01-05 and CQC requirements
- Gain tips to improve the safe management of healthcare waste in your practice.

She is a freelance infection control consultant to Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham PCTs and Southern Health Board, Northern Ireland. She is a member of Decontamination in Primary Care committee at the Department of Health. |
/Edward%20Sinclair%20-%20resized%20for%20website.jpg) | Edward Sinclair, Practice Management Consultant (Health and Safety), BDA Edward Sinclair is a dually qualified dentist and microbiologist. His final year dissertation was on Hepatitis B, a dentally relevant topic. Utilising his experience of working in NHS and private practice Dr Sinclair is currently engaged as a specialist advisor in the BDA Health and Safety Team. Edward advises members on all aspects of health and safety law, infection control and decontamination requirements. He has a particular interest in the issues facing young dentists in terms of employment and is also studying for a Masters in Public Health. |
/Brian%20Westbury%20(resized%20for%20website).jpg) | Brian Westbury, Senior Dento-legal Adviser, Dental Protection Ltd Brian Westbury was an experienced general dental practitioner who has worked in both the health service and private sectors. He has served on most of the important national and local dental committees. Brian is currently a trustee of the Dentists' Health Support Trust. He has worked for the last few years as a senior-dentolegal advisor at Dental Protection Ltd dealing with UK and international cases. He lectures to students, practitioners and Health Authorities on dento-legal and risk management subjects. He has a wide knowledge of the regulations both of the NHS and the GDC. Brian has degrees in dentistry, psychology, and law. |
