  • Three talented keynote speakers will start the day with thoughts about mentoring across society and dentistry:
  • Practical, interactive, break-out sessions demonstrating real applications of mentoring from talented mentor practitioners.

  • Jess Shields an experienced coach / mentor will take delegates through mental health first aid
  • Karen Sutton discusses the value of values
  • Stephen Denny presents how he uses mentoring in the outreach environment.

  • Bob Hughes will work with delegates on anonymised case studies
  • Helen Caton-Hughes shares practical ways to prepare for your coaching and mentoring sessions
  • Rebecca Viney will look at coaching for mid-career crisis

Janet Clarke MBE, BDS, Deputy Chief Dental Officer, England

Janet is Deputy Chief Dental Officer and Chair of Local Dental Network for NHS West Midlands at NHS England. Janet works in partnership with clinical leaders in regional and local area teams to improve outcomes for patients, and support the role of dentists and dentistry across the health system.

Leah Farrell, Chair-Elect 2020, Local Dental Committee Conference

Leah sits on the GDPC Executive at the BDA, is the secretary of Northants LDC, is the GDPC rep for the county and an associate at a NHS practice in Northampton.

Janine Brooks MBE, Dental Coaching Academy

Janine has utilised the skills of mentoring with staff over a number of years, most particularly whilst working for the NCAS, IHM and NHS England. In addition, she has individually mentored healthcare staff for varying periods of time. She currently coaches a number of dentists in the areas of personal development, leadership and remediation. She specialises in coaching dentists experiencing difficulties, particularly those who have been referred to the General Dental Council.
