To provide an overview of dental anxiety and behaviour management problems in children attending the dentist, including prevalence and management.
- Be aware of the prevalence of high levels of dental anxiety, and behaviour management problems in children and young people attending for dental treatment
- Have been introduced to the issue of assessment and a limited range of assessment tools for dental anxiety and behaviour management problems in children and young people
- Have a knowledge of a range of non-pharmacological behaviour management approaches for children and young people attending dental treatment.
Marie-Therese Hosey will outline the modern approaches to managing high caries risk children, including some safe-guarding issues.
Tim Newton will look at dental anxiety and behaviour management problems in children: a psychological approach.
