Preventing caries "MI" way!

  • In the first of his two-part series, Prof Banerjee, an international expert on MI Dentistry from King's College London, will discuss and outline the oral healthcare team-delivered and patient-focused minimum intervention / minimally invasive approaches to managing / preventing dental caries. Using scientific and clinical evidence, he will take the audience along the contemporary journey of non-operative caries prevention, including biofilm control, surface remineralisation and sealing, with clinical tips offered along the way. 

"MI" operative management of the deep carious lesion

  • In the second of his two-part series, Prof Banerjee will discuss and outline the minimally invasive approach to managing the deep carious lesion. Using scientific and clinical evidence, he will take the audience along the contemporary journey of the principle and practice of tissue-preserving selective caries removal, including an overview of some of the modern bio-interactive restorative materials that could be used to seal and arrest the caries process and maintain pulp vitality long term.

Avijit Banerjee

Avijit Banerjee is Professor of Cariology and Operative Dentistry / Hon. Consultant and Clinical Lead, Restorative Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, King's College London / Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals Foundation Trust, London, UK. 

He holds the positions of Head of Conservative and MI Dentistry, Director of Education (UG) and Programme Director of the innovative KCL distance-learning Masters in Advanced Minimum Intervention Dentistry.

He also leads the Cariology and Operative Dentistry research programme at the world-leading Faculty (as part of the Centre of Oral and Clinical Translational Science), researching, publishing and lecturing internationally about MI operative caries management and adhesive dental biomaterials.

Jocelyn Harding

Joss started her dental career in the Royal Navy in 1987. She qualified as a dental hygienist at RADC Aldershot in 1992 and was fortunate to have the opportunity to work in many locations in UK and abroad including, Gibraltar, Hong Kong and Hawaii. Joss moved to Gloucestershire in 1999 and has been part of the team working at Confident Dental and Implant Clinic in Stroud, Gloucestershire since 2007.

Joss won Dental Hygienist of the Year in 2018.

She has spoken nationally to dental, medical and patient groups to drive for more collaboration of all professions for the ongoing care of patients living with cancer.  With this in mind, her successful conference in 2019 "Talking Mouths Talking Cancer Care" was the first charity fundraising conference driven by her.

Anthony Roberts

Professor Anthony Roberts is Professor / Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Cork University Dental School and Hospital, Ireland. He is Head of the Restorative Department, Clinical and Academic Lead of the Dental Hygiene programme and his clinical service and academic focus is in the field of Periodontology. Anthony is also Vice Dean for Teaching and Curriculum and Chair of the Examination Board for the Dental Council of Ireland.
