The business of dental practice – risk vs reward

Owen Thompson.jpg

Owen Thompson

Owen has been in dental practice in Coleraine since 1986. He has a special interest in restorative dentistry and converted a 100% NHS practice to fully private in 1999. The practice is heavily geared towards prevention and utilises hygienists to carry out the preventative regimes and education. In 2008 Owen undertook an MSC in Clinical Leadership and carried out research into the levels of stress associated with running a dental business. Since then he has developed an interest in the role of formal business education in the dental practice portfolio as a tool for potentially reducing the stresses associated with modern practice.
