To discuss current concepts and modern treatment strategies for the management of endodontically and periodontally involved teeth.

Learning objectives
  • To revise the classification and diagnosis of "endo-perio" lesions
  •  To explore the interactions in the periodontal and endodontic interface, and pathogenesis of endo-perio. lesions
  • To outline the treatment considerations to optimise clinical outcomes and survival of compromised periodontally and endodontically involved teeth.

Sanjeev Bhanderi

Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi qualified in 1993 from Guys Hospital (University of London). In 1997, Sanjeev completed is postgraduate training in Endodontology at the University of Manchester Dental hospital, and has been a GDC-registered Specialist in Endodontics since 2000. He has since worked exclusively in private Specialist endodontic practices in Manchester, Liverpool, and London.

Over the period, Dr Sanjeev Bhanderi has been committed to teaching and is a well-known lecturer in the UK:

  • Course Leader (2009 to 2012) for the MSc Endodontology at the UCLan, Preston

  • Visiting Lecturer for the M.Clin.Dent. in Endodontology, University of Manchester

  • Senior Lecturer (2014 to 2022) at the University of Liverpool Dental school for the DDSc Endodontic Specialist training programme

  • He wrote and led the Endodontic modules for the FGDP Diploma in Restorative Dentistry up to 2018 

  • Numerous CE courses/conventions for general dentists throughout the UK, and has lectured internationally on his Specialty in the Middle East, India, South East Asia, and Europe.

In 2020, Dr Sanjeev is currently the President of the British Endodontic Society. He is an active Specialist member of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE), and has a particular interest in endodontic microsurgery (U. Penn, Philadelphia certified). He also works by legal instruction as a certified medico-legal witness (University of Cardiff Law School). In 2009, Sanjeev opened his new state-of-the-art Specialist practice and teaching facility in Manchester where he also runs hands-on live clinical demos and courses for visiting practitioners and postgraduate students.

Flavio Pisani

Graduated in Dentistry in 1993 from the Catholic University of Rome. Specialist in Oral Surgery in 1997 from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, in Periodontology from the University of Siena in 2014 and PhD from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. He also holds a MSc in Implant Dentistry from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. His private and teaching work has been dedicated to the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry since 1997. He lectured to UG and PG courses in different Italian Universities from 2004 to 2014, then he moved to the UK, where he has been appointed Programme Lead for the FT and PT MClinDent in Clinical Periodontology at BPP University (Birmingham), COMD (Ulster University) and at Manchester University.

He is currently Senior Clinical Lecture and Course Lead for the MSc in Clinical Periodontology at the University of Central Lancashire. His research interests are in Perio Regeneration, Soft Tissue Manipulation around teeth and Implants and in PerioMedicine, where he is currently involved in a research project about Periodontitis and Alzheimer’s disease. He is a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

COVID-19 and staying safe

The BDA recommends the below measures to continue to keep attendees safe during this event:

  • If you feel at all unwell, we encourage you to take a lateral flow test the evening before you are due to arrive - should your test result be positive, we ask you not to attend

  • We advise sanitising your hands on arrival and continue to sanitise/wash your hands regularly throughout the event 

  • We offer flexibility to transfer to a future event should you find yourself prevented from attending due to self-isolation or the onset of COVID-related symptoms.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (a new, persistent cough; a high temperature; or loss/changes to your sense of taste or smell) we kindly request you do not attend the event, although it is not a legal obligation to do so.
