Aims

Raise awareness of the different types of stress in relation to work. Explore attitudes and behaviour which can lead to stressful situations at work and give guidance on how to make the changes necessary to cope with yourself and the people you work with.

Learning objectives
  • Raise awareness of the different types of stress in relation to work
  • Recognise the Mind Traps each of us have and how to control them to lessen the impact on your work/life balance
  • Understanding how to control our attitude and behaviour when stressed and use the relevant tools to achieve this.
Learning content

This session will improve your understanding of the causes of stress in a business setting, how you react to it and how it impacts on you personally.

Building your confidence by self -examining your attitude and behaviour, and moving to make the changes necessary, to cope with the stress at work. Allowing you to explore the options you have to move forward and conclude with a commitment to action.

Illona McLay

Illona believes you can't grow a business without developing the right culture and engaging and motivating your people. Her forte is coaching people in how to help identify and resolve the critical issues within their practices, ethically sell their services and grow their business.

A qualified Reed trainer and Coach, her experience in sales, business development and people management is vast. She works with many Dental Practices coaching on High Performance Teams, Exceptional Customer Service and Ethical Selling Skills. Every year providing, for NES, a number of CPD courses and webinars on Reception Skills, Customer Service and Stress Management. Illona also runs a number of successful TCO and Practice Management Courses throughout the year.

Illona has been "in Dental" for over 40 years working in many different roles.

Having owned a number of different businesses, where she invested and risked her own money, she has a deep understanding of the stresses involved in running a business, employing people and managing yourself in difficult situations.

COVID-19 and staying safe

​The BDA recommends the below measures to continue to keep attendees safe during this event:

  • If you feel at all unwell, we encourage you to take a lateral flow test the evening before you are due to arrive - should your test result be positive, we ask you not to attend

  • We advise sanitising your hands on arrival and continue to sanitise/wash your hands regularly throughout the event

  • We offer flexibility to transfer to a future event should you find yourself prevented from attending due to self-isolation or the onset of COVID-related symptoms.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (a new, persistent cough; a high temperature; or loss/changes to your sense of taste or smell) we kindly request you do not attend the event, although it is not a legal obligation to do so.
