Member Series - Terms and conditions

Accreditation

All events meet the educational criteria set by the General Dental Council (GDC) for the Enhanced CPD scheme (launched January 2018) and are certified by the British Dental Association (BDA). Due to regulations, refreshment and lunch breaks cannot be counted towards your verifiable CPD hours. Each individual event page details the number of hours of eCPD that each event provides.

The GDC has set four development outcomes that your CPD must be mapped against, and to assist with your planning each event is marked with the relevant anticipated GDC development outcome/s.

Additional requirements

Please notify the BDA when booking (and at least one month before the event date) if you have any additional special requirements to guarantee availability e.g. dietary, wheelchair access, large print, hearing loop etc.

Certificate of attendance

A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of each event and issued to delegates in return for a completed evaluation form (in line with GDC eCPD guidelines).

Booking terms and conditions

Attendance at the Event is available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to capacity. Extra and Expert Members who are eligible for two complimentary passes must register as far ahead as possible to secure a place and avoid disappointment.

For paid places full payment must be made prior to the date of the event. Once a booking is submitted and received by the BDA the booking constitutes a firm booking which can only be cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy set out below.

Cancellation policy

All cancellations must be received in writing either by email to events@bda.org, or by post to The Events Department, BDA, 64 Wimpole Street, London W1G 8YS. This must then be followed by a telephone call to confirm receipt.

Cancellations received 29 days or more prior to an event will be entitled to a 100% credit voucher or refund. Cancellations received between 15 days and 28 days (inclusive) prior to the event will receive a 100% credit voucher to attend a future BDA event or a 75% refund. For cancellations received between 1 day and 14 days (inclusive) prior to the event, no credit voucher or refund will be given. Failure to attend the event on the day will constitute late cancellation and no credit voucher or refund will be given.

Substitutions may be made for paid passes at any time. Substitutions may not be made for the two complimentary passes for Extra and Expert members.

The BDA reserves the right to cancel events if enrolment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond its control prevail. Every effort will be made to contact each enrollee if an event is cancelled. If an event is not held for any reason, BDA's liability shall be limited to a refund of any fees paid for that event.

The BDA is not responsible for any loss or damage as a result of a speaker substitution, alteration, cancellation, or postponement of an event. The BDA shall assume no liability whatsoever if an event is altered, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled due to a fortuitous event or unforeseen occurrence that renders performance of an event inadvisable, illegal, impracticable or impossible.

For purpose of this clause, a fortuitous event shall include, but shall not be limited to: an Act of God; governmental restrictions and/or regulations; war or apparent act of war; terrorism or apparent act of terrorism: disaster; civil disorder, disturbance, and/or riots; curtailment, suspension, and/or restriction on transportation facilities/means of transportation; or any other emergency.

Dissatisfaction with an event

BDA takes complaints very seriously indeed and tries to ensure that all users are pleased with their experience of our service. Those persons who make a complaint will be dealt with courteously and promptly so that the matter is resolved as quickly as possible.

Our aim is to react to complaints in the way in which we would want our complaint about a service to be handled. We learn from every mistake made and we intend to respond to complainant's concerns in a professional manner.

Should an issue present itself whilst attending a BDA event, you are encouraged to raise this with a member of the BDA Events team working onsite. Wherever possible the team will endeavour to resolve any issues as the event takes place.

If you are dissatisfied with an event for any reason, please contact Elise Cole, Head of Events. Please either send an email to elise.cole@bda.org or write to BDA, 64 Wimpole Street, London W1G 8YS.

Special offers and discounts

The 'Member Series' of events is only open to dentist who are members of the BDA. The events are not open to student members or non-members.

Extra and Expert members are eligible to attend two complimentary events from the 'Member Series' in each membership year. If you do not use the free places within your membership year, your allocation will expire.

The two complimentary passes available for Extra and Expert members are for the member only and are not transferable. Benefits of BDA membership are solely for the use of the GDC-registered member.

The two complimentary passes for Extra and Expert members may only be used for the events branded as the 'Member Series' of events and may not be used to attend other BDA events for free.

The two complimentary passes available for Extra and Expert members are only available to those with these levels of membership from the time of booking up to and including the date/s of your chosen event/s (cancellation or a downgrade to Essential membership during this period forfeits your right to the free passes).

If taking advantage of the Essential member rate, you must be an Essential member from the time of booking up to and including the date/s of your chosen event/s (cancellation of your membership during this period forfeits your right to attend these events).

A limit of 20 places will be made available at each event for Essential members. Once these 20 places have been allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, a waiting list will be kept, and you will be advised within two weeks before the event if a place becomes available.

For any Extra members and Expert members who have already used their two free complimentary passes but wish to attend more of the events, you may do so and will be charged at the BDA Essential member rate.
