About the speaker

Shanon Patel - photo re-sized for web.pngShanon Patel
Consultant Endodontist

Shanon works in a multi-disciplinary specialist practice in central London, alongside teaching future, specialist endodontists in the Postgraduate Unit at King's College London Dental Institute. His main research interests include cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), root resorption and the restoration of root treated teeth.

Shanon's background as a clinical academic has resulted in him publishing over 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals, as well as being lead author of three European Society of Endodontology position statements (CBCT 2014, 2019 and External Cervical Resorption 2018).

Shanon has co-authored six textbooks which have been translated into four different languages; 'Principle of Endodontics' (now in its third edition and considered essential reading for undergraduates in the UK and the commonwealth), 'Pitt Ford's Problem Based Learning in Endodontics' (the first PBL book published in Endodontics), 'CBCT in Endodontics' (considered essential reading for Endodontists using CBCT), and most recently 'Endodontology at a Glance' (the first authoritative revision guide in Endodontology).
