This webinar will provide the participant with an understanding of how to diagnose and provide initial management of those orofacial conditions that present most frequently in dental primary care.

Learning objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the basis of inflammatory, neoplastic and infective oral mucosal disease
  • Enhance the ability to investigate and diagnose orofacial pain
  • Increase knowledge of the appropriate use of those medicines included in the Dental Formulary.

Learning content

A one hour lecture with the chance to ask the speaker questions at the end of the webinar.

Professor of Oral Medicine, Cardiff University

Mike Lewis is Professor of Oral Medicine, Cardiff University. He served as Dean of the School of Dentistry at Cardiff University from 2010-2017. He is also past Dean of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Director of the Clinical Board for Dentistry, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.  

Professor Lewis has published over 200 scientific articles and co-authored six medical textbooks. He has delivered more than 600 postgraduate lectures worldwide.

In addition, he has been President of the British Society for Oral Medicine and President of the British Society for Oral and Dental Research.
