WEBINAR RECORDING

Are you all right? Understanding your well-being in a COVID-19 world

*A recording of a webinar that took place on Thursday 25 June 2020*

Stress and mental well-being are both very important issues in dentistry, particularly in the current climate. This webinar will address both these topics, helping you recognise the signs of stress and learn how to prevent it. It will also teach you how to provide support to others in this situation.

Learning objectives

  • Understand aetiology, signs and symptoms of stress and burnout
  • Explore the prevalence of stress in dentistry and what we know about COVID-19 and well-being
  • Gain knowledge of psychological effects on healthcare staff when experiencing a pandemic
  • Be aware of evidence-based prevention and coping strategies during a pandemic
  • Be aware of signposting for people experiencing stress and burnout and gain knowledge of the organisations available for support.

About the speaker

roz mcmullan.pngRoz McMullan

Retired Consultant Orthodontist, President of the BDA and Chair of Probing Stress in Dentistry in Northern Ireland (NI)

While in post, Roz was involved in Trust governance and auditing, and was an appraiser and mentor. She was secretary to the Audit Committee of the BOS and chaired the Hospital Training Committee of the NI Deanery.

Roz was involved in the representative side of the BDA from her student days and chaired the NI Council from 2015 until 2019. Roz was President of the NI Branch in 1999.

Roz established "Probing Stress in Dentistry"; a BDA-supported project which works to raise the awareness of mental well-being in the dental workforce in NI, and to establish a network of mental health first-aiders to support and signpost dental teams who are experiencing difficulty.
