What to expect

Join your Bristol Section colleagues for a "Summer social" at the iconic Clifton Observatory in aid of the BDA Benevolent Fund. Any proceeds from the event will be donated.

The evening's wine tasting with canapes will take place on the Observatory viewing platform, followed by dinner in the restaurant.

There will be six wines from around the world available to taste selected by Simon Jerome, Head of Wine for C&C Group, using his many years’ experience in the wine trade.

Partners, friends and colleagues are very welcome to attend.

Timings

Arrival - 18:30 for a prompt start at 19:00

Wine tasting with canapes - 19:00

Dinner - 20:00

Carriages - 23:30

Menu and dietary requirements

Canapes will accompany the wine tasting followed by two course dinner. 

Please find a copy of the menu here. Vegan and vegetarian options available.

Please let us know if you do not drink alcohol as an alternative will be provided.

Please email [email protected] with any dietary requirements before Friday 29 June 2024 so we can ensure these are catered for one the day.

The BDA Benevolent Fund is a charity supporting all undergraduate dental students, dentists and their dependents, living in the UK who are in financial need.

Any proceeds from this event will be donated to the Benevolent Fund.

If you feel at all unwell, we encourage you to take a lateral flow test the evening before you are due to arrive - should your test result be positive, we ask you not to attend.

If your test is negative, but you do have symptoms of COVID-19 (a new, persistent cough; a high temperature; or loss/changes to your sense of taste or smell) we kindly request you consider not attending the event to mitigate any risk to other attendees.

Smart casual and sensible shoes. 

Remember to bring a jacket for when it gets cooler.

Please note that Clifton Observatory does not have dedicated parking.

On street parking is available near the Observatory in Clifton Village and the Clifton and Durdham Downs.

Allow 5 to 10 minutes to walk to the venue and note that the tarmacked pathways to the Observatory from Clifton are on an incline and in a few places are quite steep.

Allow 5 minutes to get seated on the Observatory viewing platform.
