What to expect

Join us as we review how aligners can correct mild and severe malocclusions, the importance of a full consenting process for patients, the role of the generalist and specialist in aligner treatments and the capabilities of aligner treatment for both adults and children and the importance of long-term retention and stability.

Our speaker John Costello will provide a presentation to help clinicians in the consenting discussions with their patients when using aligner therapy.

Learning objectives 

  • To discuss the role of generalists and specialists in the correction of the malocclusions of their patients when using aligners
  • To discuss the importance of understating the full capabilities of aligners
  • To use the capabilities of aligners to fully consent patients regarding different treatment objectives and goals
  • To understand the role of aligners in treating young patients
  • To understand the importance of stability and retention following aligner treatments.

Meet the speaker

John John Costello Founder/Director, Total Orthodontics Ltd

John graduated from Guy's Hospital in 1992. After a series of maxillofacial surgery posts and a spell in general practice, he completed the Fellowship in Dental Surgery and entered the three-year postgraduate orthodontic training programme at the Eastman Dental Institute. In 1999 he was awarded a Master of Science degree and the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He is a Founder Director of Total Orthodontics Ltd and has published papers in the British Dental Journals and presented research at the British Orthodontic and Dental Research Conferences. John won the coveted 'Against All Odds' British Orthodontic Society Prize in 2008. He certified as an Invisalign user in 2006 and is on the UK Advisory Board for Align and a UK speaker for them. He recently lectured at the UKI Align Summit 2023 and mentors and teaches both generalists and specialists in Aligner therapy.  

John is a past Governor of The Judd School in Tonbridge / Junior Chairman of Tonbridge Juddians RFC and a committee member of the British Orthodontic Society's Orthodontic Specialist Group where he chaired their spring meetings. He sees patients from Total Orthodontics Tonbridge and Sevenoaks which was awarded BUPA's Practice of the year 2022.

Camden Place is a grade II* listed building which, since 1894, has been the magnificent home of Chislehurst Golf Club. Camden Place is something of a hidden jewel with its spectacular architecture and detailing, representative of its fine Georgian heritage, and set in 70 acres of beautiful grounds.

Venue guidance - on arrival, access is via the main and only entrance, there is a door code which will be confirmed to you by email before the event. Enter the main reception area and take the immediate left towards this meeting's reception area, and this leads into the main bar.

There is a large, free car park at the golf club in front of the entrance to the building.
