ONLINE WORKSHOP

What to expect

Following tooth extraction, a well-described process of wound healing events results in an extensive three-dimensional bone resorption of the alveolar ridge. This becomes both an aesthetic and functional challenge for reconstruction with conventional bridges, resin bonded bridges and dental implants.

This first part of this exciting event will consist of a live online lecture, delivered but Nikos Mardas, discussing the different treatment approaches for alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) and the evidence on their effectiveness. The decision-making processes and technical clinical details will be presented and discussed with case presentations.

The second part of this unique training session will involve delegates being guided through online hands-on training in alveolar ridge preservation by Azim Malik in the comfort of their own home.

Each delegate will be sent a specially prepared hamper including a Geistlich v-lab kit and everything that you need to use during the hands-on section of the course. Each delegate will need to provide their own PPE.

Aims

This online event will provide delegates with an update of the current evidence for alveolar ridge preservation and present the different clinical approaches focusing on indications, surgical management, and outcomes. It will also discuss the practical aspects of alveolar ridge preservation and assist delegates to perform this comfortably in a clinical setting. By the end of the workshop delegates are expected to become competent and comfortable with alveolar ridge preservation in everyday clinical practice.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the rationale for alveolar ridge preservation, the indications, and limitations of the procedures as well as the expected clinical outcomes.
  • Describe the various surgical approaches for alveolar ridge preservation including the use of various biomaterials.
  • Be able to decide when and how to apply alveolar ridge preservation techniques safely and predictably in different clinical scenarios.
  • Understand and perform the basic clinical steps for in alveolar ridge preservation with a particulate bone graft and a barrier membrane.

Learning content

The aim of this event will be met through a live lecture and demonstration by the speakers and the opportunity for delegates to follow the same processes with the speakers on hand to answer questions.

Feedback from other hands-on at home events

Great course, the mix of lecture and hands on was really good.

Great virtual event, ran very smoothly.
