Meet the speaker

Guy Barwell 2023 Photo Guy Barwell President, BDA Southern Counties Branch, Implant Surgeon and Co-Founder of The Implant Centre, Hove

Guy is an implant surgeon with working with a fantastic team at The Implant Centre in Sussex.  This clinic was set up 18 years ago,  dedicated to dental implant, with a focus on simplifying and demystifying dental implant treatments.   Currently he is President of the Southern Counties  BDA, and has been Chairman of the local section previously.   Lecturing has always been a passion,  with focus on clinical treatment and how to help patients rather than presentation of research.

With the advance of digital aspects of implant dentistry,  there is a new interest in simplifying the restorative outcomes, which Guy feels is perhaps the biggest part of the cause of implant complications in the longer term.

A specific (if rather foolish) interest is in management of failures and complications related to implants,  including those placed overseas,  as this can be the most challenging aspect of implant dentistry.  This has led Guy to simplify treatments over the years, with a goal to reduce failures and complications down to the absolute minimum.
