What to expect

To enhance general dental practitioners’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in performing endodontic treatment by highlighting key principles, practical techniques, and common pitfalls to improve clinical outcomes and patient care in everyday practice.

Learning objectives

  • Identify key factors in case assessment and selection to determine whether a patient is suitable for endodontic treatment in general practice or should be referred to a specialist
  • Apply evidence-based techniques and protocols for access cavity preparation, canal location, cleaning, shaping, and obturation to improve treatment outcomes
  • Recognise and avoid common procedural errors and complications in endodontics, including instrument separation, perforation, and missed canals.

Meet the speaker

Erlind Pepla Senior Lecturer Endodontics, Bristol University

Dr Erlind Pepla graduated from Sapienza University, Rome in 2010. He then worked for five years in Endodontic and Restorative Dentistry completing a MSc in 2011 and a PhD in Restorative Dentistry in 2015 at Sapienza University.

In 2015 Erlind moved to the UK and practised as an Endodontist in Suffolk.  He was appointed as a part-time Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry in 2017 at Bristol University and worked as an endodontist mainly in Cheltenham.

In 2020 Erlind became the Endodontic Lead at Bristol University and was appointed as part time Senior Lecturer in Endodontics in 2022. He is also a partner in Leckhampton Dental Clinic in Cheltenham where he has an established endodontic referral list.  He also works on a referral basis in Reading, Chippenham, Bristol and Hay-on-Wye.
