  • Consider the prevalence, common types and common causes of luxation injuries
  • Consider the tissues affected, how they heal and how injury to the worst-affected tissues affects the management and prognosis of teeth
  • Reflect on key aspects of history and examination of patients who gave sustained dento-alveolar trauma and use an evidence-based approach to manage dento-alveolar trauma.

Meet the speaker

Shashi Mishra Regional Representative, Dental Trauma UK

Shashi qualified from the University of Glasgow and after general practice and hospital appointments in and around Manchester, joined the Army where he served in the Royal Army Dental Corps. In his time in the Army he was posted throughout the UK and deployed on operational duties overseas. He completed his Masters in endodontics from the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. On completing his training, Shashi was responsible for the endodontic referral service for the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force along with the teaching of endodontics and dento-alveolar trauma to Dental Officers. He has presented widely and delivered hands-on courses nationally and internationally. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and also a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry, Shashi is a Regional Representative for Dental Trauma UK, a charity set up to promote best practice in the management of injured, damaged or knocked out teeth following a traumatic dental incident.
