Simon is an experienced Resuscitation Lead and Paediatric Nurse with well-established clinical and managerial experience. Simon is dedicated to the delivery of high quality clinical standards and care.

As Head of Operations, Simon leads on the delivery of a variety of training programmes and resuscitation support. While on site he also responds to clinical emergencies as a part of the resuscitation team. Simon’s role requires him to continuously review and monitor course content, simulations and training delivery to ensure that they meet national recommendations and regulations. He also leads and manages a team of regional lead, senior and assistant resuscitation officers distributed across the UK.

Alfie qualified in 1995 with B.D.S. from King’s College Hospital, London.

After hospital posts in maxillofacial and oral surgery and children’s dentistry, Alfie continued with several post-graduate studies at The Eastman Dental Institute and was awarded the Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice in 2006 with Distinction. He also attained certificates in Advanced Endodontics and Sports Dentistry. In 2014, he was awarded the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the same institute.

Alfie enjoys exploring areas of learning and skills beyond the GDP dental chair and interwoven within this 30-year career is the aspect of safeguarding which Alfie has utilised since his early days as a House Officer at King’s College London to GDP settings and recent multi-national elite sports events such as The Commonwealth Games 2022 and England RFU at Twickenham. He has gained Level 5 certification in safeguarding and is passionate about sharing his experiences in order to further empower others within dentistry to carry out their safeguarding duties effectively and raise concerns with confidence.

Len is Head of BDA Indemnity, a general dental practitioner, foundation trainer and practice owner. He has 21 years’ experience as a dento-legal advisor supporting dentists with complaints, clinical and regulatory issues, and clinical negligence claims. He is lead lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire teaching on the MA in Dental Law and Ethics.

He has authored and co-authored two books: “Understanding NHS dentistry” and “Dental Law and Ethics” and has contributed legal and ethical content to a number of text books, journals and websites. He regularly shares his wisdom on NHS regulations and contract reform and has both dental and legal qualifications. 

Pete is a decontamination and cross infection qualified specialist with over 17 years experience of working in the dental industry. He has worked within many different areas of dentistry including Orthodontics, Microscopes, Decontamination, Surgical and Endodontics to name a few. Pete has been delivering dental infection prevention courses for many years and has written several published articles on infection prevention and control, as well as writing a monthly column for Dentistry Online.

Pete offers impartial advice supported by his extensive experience working with the UK and European guidelines, and knowledgeable interpretation. All of Pete's advice is underpinned by his belief that staff and patient safety is paramount.

Joe spent 28 years in general practice and for eight of those was the dental practice advisor for Berkshire. He tutored at the Eastman Dental Hospital’s School of Hygiene and Therapy for 17 years and spent a decade as a dento-legal advisor with one of the large mutual defence organisations. 

Joe has a particular interest in the legal aspects of prescribing within the dental setting and was recently made an honorary member of the BADT.

Saman Warnakulasuriya was the Chairman of the Oral Medicine Division at King’s College Hospital and at Guy’s Hospital, London from 2005 -2015. He has acted as the Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Oral Cancer since 2005. Saman was the President of the Metropolitan Branch of BDA in 2011-2012.

He has made major contributions in cancer epidemiology, oral medicine, and experimental pathology. He is a leading expert on human carcinogens (tobacco, alcohol and betel quid) and has contributed to the evaluations of carcinogens published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

He developed the classification and nomenclature of Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders published by the WHO Collaborating Centre in 2005 (updated in 2020). He was the recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Awards from the International Association of Dental Research in both Oral Medicine and Pathology (2014) and in Global Oral Health (2021). He was elected a Fellow of King's College in 2019. In 2016 he was appointed as an Officer of the British Empire by Her Majesty the Queen for his services to Medicine.
