ON-DEMAND WEBINAR

What to expect

Dentists often build long-standing and trusted relationships with their patients, placing them in a unique position to support open conversations and provide stigma-free care. The UK and the World Health Organisation have a goal to end new cases of HIV and viral hepatitis by 2030. With these conditions still misunderstood at times, this session aims to improve confidence and knowledge in blood borne viruses. This webinar led by GPs and lived experience peers will provide practical guidance tailored to dental practices helping clinicians feel informed and offering a deeper understanding of how everyday practice can help reduce stigma and support inclusive care.

A CPD certificate (in the name of the purchaser) will be available to download once viewing of this online lecture has been completed. It is a recording of a webinar delivered in February 2026.

Learning objectives

  • Understanding the natural history of HIV and viral hepatitis, and advances in treatment for these conditions, including the game changing concept of U=U in HIV
  • Identifying when and how to signpost patients to primary care medical teams and/or sexual health services when concerned about blood borne virus risk
  • Gaining insights from the perspectives of lived experience peers on how to reduce stigma in healthcare settings and reduce health inequalities.
