What to expect

The 'Hot topic' lecture will see Caroline Lappin update delegates on the latest dental amalgam phase out plans, outcomes of GDS Cost of Service Review and next steps. Caroline will also provide an overview of the Department of Health Reset Plan for Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland.

Later in the evening, join Nick Wright for an overview of new techniques and treatments that are carried out at a high street specialist endodontic practice. Throughout the lecture, Nick will also be sharing tips for successful endodontics.

Caroline Lappin Chief Dental officer

Nick Wright Specialist in Endodontics

Caroline Lappin

Caroline qualified from Queens University in 1999 and was seconded to the role of Chief Dental Officer for Northern Ireland in November 2021 from her substantive post in South Eastern HSC Trust. She has worked across a range of dental settings including general practice, prison dental services and community dental services. She has a particular interest in improving oral health outcomes for vulnerable patients.

Nick Wright

Nick Wright has been accepting endodontic referrals since 1993 after gaining his FDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He became a recognised Specialist in Endodontics in 2002 and established the first Specialist Endodontic Practice in Northern Ireland that same year. Nick treats complex root canal cases from across the country and has contributed to dental education through teaching at the School of Dentistry in Belfast and delivering postgraduate courses and lectures.

The centrepiece of the site is the original Grade 2-listed red brick building, which has been sympathetically renovated to retain many original features while incorporating the best of today’s technology.

Riddel Hall also has free limited on-site parking for delegates based on a first come, first served basis. In an effort to avoid disappoint and help the environment, delegates should be encouraged to commute via alternative means.
