ONLINE WORKSHOP

What to expect

On the whole, dentists don’t like taking impressions, technicians are, at times, disappointed with the results, surgery assistants loath the mess and being asked if they could just do another mix and, the patients, they definitely don’t want repeats!

Join Mike Gregory for this new and exciting hands-on online course where he will show why impressions are frequently harder than they need be and how to rectify that.

Format

This course is designed for a dentist and their surgery assistant to both learn together how to take great primary impressions.

The course consists of an hour long on-demand lecture (released the week prior) followed by a live hour and a half session where delegates will be guided through the different stages of primary impression taking and then follow along in the practice with the materials provided.

When booking a dentist onto this course, their surgery assistant will also again access to the course as getting primary impressions correct is a 2-person task. Allowing the dentist and their surgery assistant to take part in the live hands-on training together.

Please note, delegates will also need a volunteer to be the patient for an hour and have an impression taken.

Aims

Mike will discuss and show the limitations of ‘stock’ but widely used trays, explore how some really simple materials can transform results and how impression taking can become a stress-free process for everyone.

By the end of the course delegates will know how to adapt any ‘stock’ tray to fit almost every patient, understand what a technician needs in order to produce better laboratory work and can start putting the processes into daily practice.

Learning objectives

  • Discuss the limitations of ‘stock’ trays and the advantages of modifying them
  • Understand the steps involved in modifying 'stock' impression trays for optimal extension
  • Gain an understanding of how to use the appropriate materials and how they can transform the results of your primary impressions
  • Understand what a technician needs from an impression to produce better lab work
  • Understand and perform each stage of taking a primary impression and your role in that stage.
