ON-DEMAND WEBINAR

What to expect

This is a recording of a webinar that took place on 1 July 2026

This webinar (particularly relevant for Foundation Dentists) aims to help those starting out prepare for working life as an associate.

Working as a dental associate means operating as a self-employed professional within a practice environment, taking on responsibilities that differ in important ways from those of an employed dentist. As a self-employed associate, you manage your own business, provide clinical services under an agreement with a practice, and take responsibility for the financial, professional, and administrative aspects of your work.

Learning objectives

  • Learn what an associate agreement is
  • Understand self-employed status and what that means
  • Be aware of recent changes to NHS contracts
  • Understand how your pay will be calculated (including income and deductions)
  • Consider the importance of financial planning and maintenance of records.
