Learning objectives
- Evaluate the assessment of the deteriorating patient
- Demonstrate a safe approach to a victim and assess a collapsed victim
- Apply the correct technique of chest compression and rescue breathing
- Operate the procedure for turning on AED and attaching electrodes correctly
- Analyse the assessment of cardiac rhythm by the AED and the technique for performing safe defibrillation
- Implement medical emergency training, including anaphylaxis
- Execute the appropriate response for dealing with a choking adult.

John Saberton
Resuscitation Officer, Resuscitation Council Instructor
John's background is working in the Emergency department as a charge nurse. He has over 15 years experience as a Resuscitation Officer teaching in the hospital and community. He teaches everything from basic to advanced life support for both adult and paediatrics.
