What to expect

Dental surgeries will see an emergency on average once every three years. This lecture will equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to manage an emergency.

Learning objectives

  • Evaluate the assessment of the deteriorating patient
  • Demonstrate a safe approach to a victim and assess a collapsed victim
  • Apply the correct technique of chest compression and rescue breathing
  • Operate the procedure for turning on AED and attaching electrodes correctly
  • Analyse the assessment of cardiac rhythm by the AED and the technique for performing safe defibrillation
  • Implement medical emergency training, including anaphylaxis
  • Execute the appropriate response for dealing with a choking adult.

Meet the speaker

John Saberton

Resuscitation Officer, Resuscitation Council Instructor

John's background is working in the Emergency department as a charge nurse. He has over 15 years experience as a Resuscitation Officer teaching in the hospital and community. He teaches everything from basic to advanced life support for both adult and paediatrics.
