What to expect

Oral health care professionals play an essential role in safeguarding; they are trained to recognise signs of abuse in patients and act accordingly to preserve patients’ safety. This webinar will highlight the importance of oral healthcare professionals learning how to create a safe space for patients and colleagues to ask for support if they are experiencing domestic abuse. Preetee will educate all members of the dental team about the different types of domestic abuse and encourage them to be actively and safely provide support to those experiencing domestic abuse.

Meet the speaker

Preetee Hylton Dental Nurse, Safeguarding Lead and President, British Association of Dental Nurses

Preetee is the current President of the British Association of Dental Nurses (2024–2026) and currently practises as a full-time dental nurse and safeguarding lead in a private practice in London. She is actively involved in education, delivering the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, and is an Associate Examiner with the NEBDN. As an editorial board member of the Dental Nursing Journal and a published author in Dentistry, BDJ Team and the Primary Dental Journal, Preetee contributes to raising professional standards across the oral healthcare community, focusing on dental nurses. Drawing on both her safeguarding expertise and lived experience of domestic abuse, Preetee is a regular speaker at national events, where she addresses safeguarding – including domestic abuse awareness, professional development and career advice for dental nurses, and the wider responsibilities of the oral healthcare team in patient care.
