What to expect

This lecture is intended to educate individuals about impact of sugars on health, explore healthy and unhealthy sugar options, and provide strategies for reducing sugar intake.

The lecture will focus on:

  • Exploring how genetic predispositions to a sweet tooth might relate to overall health
  • Recognising the differences between different types of sugars and sugar substitutes
  • Understanding how high sugar intake can affect health and wellbeing.

Meet the speaker

Albert Yeung Consultant in Dental Public Health

Albert is the BDA West of Scotland Branch President for 2025/2026 and also the current Chair of the BDA Scottish Council. He has been the Consultant in Dental Public Health of NHS Lanarkshire since 2007. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer of the University of Glasgow. He is a Professional Adviser to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman. Originally from Hong Kong, Albert studied dentistry in Glasgow. He has a diverse background of working experience in dentistry in the UK, including general dental practice, hospitals, community dental service and teaching in dental schools. He is co-editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Dentistry (Second Edition).

Parking
On street car parking
Parking bays are located on St Vincent Street, Blythswood Street and Douglas Street which surround the building. Parking is chargeable Monday – Sunday by using the meter or Ringo app. Blue badge holders can park in bays free of charge.

Multi-storey car parks
Q-Park Waterloo Street is the closest multi-storey car park to the College (2 minute drive or 3 minute walk). Further information available on Q-Park website
