What to expect

The presentation will cover the characteristics of local anaesthetic solutions used in dentistry, dental anaesthetic equipment and techniques to maximise success.  Safety and commonly encountered complications will be discussed.

The lecture will focus on:

  • Reviewing current literature in local anaesthesia
  • Discussing application of knowledge to local anaesthetic scenarios
  • Explaining the principle of bespoke anaesthesia.

Meet the speaker

Ian Corbett Consultant Oral Surgeon

Ian is a Consultant Oral Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Newcastle, with a private practice covering the North-East of England.  Ian graduated from King’s College London and Newcastle University, has a PhD in Pathology, and is a Fellow of RCS Edinburgh. After more than 20 years’ experience in maxillofacial trauma he now concentrates on dentoalveolar surgery and postgraduate education. Ian has a research interest and international recognition in the field of dental anaesthesia, having published extensively, lectured internationally, and was awarded a European Federation for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry prize.

Parking
On street car parking
Parking bays are located on St Vincent Street, Blythswood Street and Douglas Street which surround the building. Parking is chargeable Monday – Sunday by using the meter or Ringo app. Blue badge holders can park in bays free of charge.

Multi-storey car parks
Q-Park Waterloo Street is the closest multi-storey car park to the College (2 minute drive or 3 minute walk). Further information available on Q-Park website
