Essential members upwards have full access to the library.

Student and overseas members can access everything except physical loans.

Visiting the Library

We offer free WiFi, photocopying facilities and a relaxing space to work in as well as face to face contact with experienced library professionals!

Non-member visitors to the Library

Those who are eligible to join the BDA may not visit without first becoming BDA members.

Those who are not eligible to join the BDA may visit the library for reference purposes BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Email library@bda.org before you visit and we will send you a visitor’s letter provided you are conducting legitimate dental research.

Origins

Opened in 1920 the Robert and Lilian Lindsay library was founded and organised by Lilian Lindsay, the first woman to qualify as a dentist in the UK. Currently it is the most comprehensive dental library in Europe.
