Celebrating 100 years with the Irish Dental Association

Last weekend we had the privilege of joining with colleagues from the Irish Dental Association (IDA) at their annual conference at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny.

The BDA was well represented at a black-tie dinner which was a special, celebratory event to mark the major milestone that is the 100-year anniversary of the IDA.

Celebrating 100 years of IDA

The title of 2023's annual conference arranged by the IDA was 'Shining Brightly'. Last weekend's event was a great opportunity for everyone who attended to meet with old friends and colleagues. It included an outstanding line-up of national and international speakers and courses.

As the highlight of their social calendar, along with the annual dinner, the Association was also able to bring back their annual golf competition and Annual Past President's Lunch. Creating a further space to connect and celebrate the community and their achievements.

John Milne, our recently installed national President had the honour of his first official engagement delivering a speech at the IDA conference dinner on behalf of BDA. Marking the historic occasion John reaffirmed the longstanding and deep friendship which exists between both Associations.

Philip McLorinan, BDA NI Branch President, also attended the event: "It was an honour to represent the Northern Ireland Branch on the occasion of the IDA centenary, not only to mark aspects of our shared history and the launch of the 'History of the IDA' book, but to reaffirm valued friendships as both the NI Branch and IDA move into their second centuries, and we look forward to hosting IDA guests later this year when the BDA Northern Ireland branch celebrates its 100-year anniversary at our Gala ball."
