Got something you want to change in dentistry? LDC Conference 2018 motions

With seven months to go before LDC Conference opens in Belfast, it's time to start thinking about those motions, which we hope will help to change the future of dentistry.

Who should attend LDC conference?

When deciding on who to send as delegates please try to take up your full allocation. Should LDC officers not be available to attend, consider sending members of your committee who are performers and have not yet owned a practice.

LDC Conference really would like to see and hear voices from dentists at all stages of their careers, so that we are truly representative. Please consider offering places to younger dentists in your practice, or to your foundation dentists, and encourage them to get more engaged.

The flights for most airlines are available for booking now and at more favourable rates, so I encourage you to think about booking travel soon.

The line-up

We are approaching potential speakers and have a strong outline for our programme. We also want to ensure the agenda is current and covers recent issues as we approach the date, so we will be tweaking and adding to the programme over the next few months.

I am determined to bring you a conference which is informative, relevant and above all gives you the platform to debate and argue the case for a better profession: better for our colleagues, and better for our patients.

Have your say

We are opening the window for the acceptance of motions earlier this year, to give you more time to think, consider and debate at your LDC and craft strong motions for us to take forward.

Have a look at the LDC Conference website to recap what happened at the 2017 LDC Conference, and the motions that were raised. Was anything important missed out, can you do better? Then make sure you submit it for LDC Conference 2018!

I would really like to start some debate at this early stage. I mentioned earlier about developing the future dental leaders by encouraging associates and foundation dentists to attend LDC Conference - please let me know if you have any thoughts on how we can do this.

BDA elections

The BDA's elections will shortly be opening for voting – several places on the General Dental Practice Committee, the Principal Executive Committee, as well as other BDA Committees and Country Councils are in contention.

Please ensure to remind your colleagues to make their voting preferences online so that we can have a profession that is truly representative. Good luck to all the candidates!
