Making dentistry better: representing my profession

Blog Author Imran Asghar

Blog Date 28/09/2018

I have been the Honorary Secretary of Oldham/Rochdale BDA section for several years now, organising events on a regular basis.

I am GDP in a mixed practice and also work in the restorative clinic at my local hospital. In addition, I am privileged to be a trustee of a charity that helps organise dental aid trips across the world each year. I am currently studying for an MSc in Endodontics.

The Joy Harrild Award for Young Dentists is a constant reminder of how short our lives are and that we should try out best to do good, in any way, shape or form, especially through our prestigious profession.

The effort, sacrifice and hard work, health professionals put in to serve their patients daily is truly remarkable.

Being the first-ever recipient of the Joy Harrild award at the BDA was a humbling yet proud moment for my family, friends, colleagues, myself and my patients too.

The award drives me to further excel in life and in my career and I am determined to complete the MSc programme and to serve the profession through various avenues such as the BDA.
