You've recently qualified and you've got big plans for your future career.
You don't have to do it all alone, here are some top tips from our Young Dentists Committee on getting ahead and achieving your aims:
1
| Try it allGain a wide array of experience in different sectors of dentistry early on in your career, think beyond the usual, and branch out, explore. This will help you find your strengths and weaknesses, and what you really enjoy doing, but also give you a broad range of skills and increase your employability.
|
2
| Be proactive: invest in training
Think about where you want to go: doing credible courses (like a PGCert in clinical education or a one-year restorative course) will help you progress with your career aspirations. They are an investment for the skills, knowledge and job opportunities you gain.
|
3
| Get a mentor early onFind someone who you admire and who wants to support you. Make the most of their skills and experience, ask lots of questions and listen.
|
4
| Watch your financesTake some time to learn about business and financial management – this will help you both professionally and in your personal life.
