The BDA is surveying dental practice owners in England to investigate what challenges they are experiencing in getting ready for the potential resumption of face-to-face patient care from 8 June.
This survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete and will help us find out the challenges you are facing, and help us make the case to Government on what is needed to get back to providing effective and safe patient care.
We want to know about your intentions for reopening, timings, PPE availability and your anticipated levels of capacity.
With little forewarning, NHS England announced last week that practices in England can start providing face-to-face care from Monday, June 8 2020. We said that the timing of this announcement has left little time for many practices to plan.BDA Board Chair Mick Armstrong said:
“Last Thursday's announcement came as a bolt from the blue for practices across England. In under a week practices can reopen. But from PPE to getting practices set up for social distancing, it has not given colleagues the time to plan and prepare. From lower patient volumes to higher costs we know practices will need support to survive the ‘new normal’.
“We have been pressing for a timeline to restore face-to-face care on the high street across the UK. But opening the floodgates without recognising the scale of the challenge ahead is fraught with problems.”
