Final-year dental students wanted for new research project

We’re looking for final-year dental students planning to continue with clinical practice after graduating to participate in a new research project.

The project aims to follow students from their final year of study through their first year of clinical practice, reflecting on initial views of preparedness and confidence and how these might have changed over time.

Those who participate in the project will be invited to three one-to-one virtual interviews (via Teams or Zoom) across the course of the next year, with pre-discussion surveys sent out ahead of each interview. You can expect the interviews to last around 45-60 minutes and the surveys will take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. The first interview will take place prior to graduation and the following interviews will be in November/December 2023, and May/June 2024.

This project is open to all final-year students from any dental school in the UK and will help improve our understanding of clinical experience among dental students, and ultimately aid our policy and campaign activity to help ease the transition from dental school to clinical practice, enabling students to have the best start in their careers.

All participants who complete the project will receive a £20 gift voucher per interview and a £30 bonus voucher for completing all three interviews, equalling £90 in total for the full project time. Interviews will be arranged outside of working/study hours, at a time that suits each participant, and will not interfere with studies or training.
